Chisholms paintings function as an inquiry into systems of space and time and our methods of understanding them. His works suggest both the capturing of a unique moment within a painting and the temporal gap which lies between works. Simultaneously the object provides an investigation into its painted environment, acting as a prototype for understanding new systems of space.
